Expiring the Patriot Act

I had written a previous blog post on the Patriot Act when it was first enacted. But that posting has long since vanished into the some lost confines of the internet. In my original posting I had indicated that such a sweeping statute opened the door to abuse. Under President George W Bush who brought us this legislation, it was used but not abused.

Since the inseption of the Obama Regime the Patriot Act has been abused. Pandora’s box has been opened and the NSA has spied not only on our allies but on American Citizens as well. It has let to the abuses of the IRS against political enemies of the Obama machine. All of this lead to the rise of the Amerian Hero and true Patriot Edward Snowden and several documentaries and new articles of the abuses of the current Administration.

The Patriot Act is set to expire on Sunday the 31st of May. I say let this horrid, abusive, and firmly unAmerican legislation die without any renewal. Call your Congressman and Senator and demand that this legislation pass into history. It should not be extended in any way, shape, or form.

This needs to be done to protect the American People from it’s number one enemy. Who is not ISIS or any other Islamic group. No the number one enemy of the American People, is the American Government which has moved so far away from its Founding that our Founding Fathers would not recognize it.

End the Patriot Act

Indiana and Religious Freedom

All over the news are the reports of the militant LGBT community boycotting the state of Indiana for the recent Religious Freedom statute passed by the state legislature and signed by the governor. What we don’t really hear about is the 18 other states that have similar statutes already on the books. We also don’t hear that it is a fundamental business owners right to refuse service to anyone they don’t want to do business with on any grounds.

In addition to Indiana, the states of Idaho, Arizona, New Mexico, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Illinois, Louisiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Florida, and Virginia all have similar statues. Are any of these states being boycotted by the militant LGBT community?

What about the 13 additional states that are proposing similar legislation, are they being boycotted as well?

The answer to both of those questions is already known. The answer of course is no they are not boycotting any of these other states. The fact remains that the militant LGBT community carefully chooses its targets. And Indiana, being a midwest state, like my native Iowa, has the crosshairs on it. This will enter the courts to be decided who may or may not strike the statute down. But that is the risk the militant LGBT community is going to take.

Once it is struck down in Indiana, they will use this as leverage to have it struck down in all other states at the US Supreme Court level. And also take on the Federal Statute that also exists with similar wording. Again no boycotting of the United States going on here.

When Net Neutrality Isn’t

On Thursday Feb 26th, the FCC passed rules to regulate the internet using Title II regulations from 1934 that are used on monopoly telephone companies. Prior to this day, the internet has been largely free of government regulation. And has boomed exponentially.

The FCC likes to pass this ruling as a form of Net Neutrality. But it isn’t at all. In fact it is very bad for the internet and internet users in general.

For those that aren’t familiar with Net Neutrality and what it means for everyone. It is a simple concept that any traffic on the internet is treated the same by all internt service providers. That is as, your provider shouldn’t block or restrict any lawful content moving across the internet.

There are some internet service providers that have purposely blocked their user’s traffic so true Net Neutrality is needed. But Title II is not the path to ensure the internet remains free.

Title II grants the FCC the power to tax the customers of internet service providers, regulate their rates and cause costs to be increased as the internet service providers spend millions in legal fees to understand the new regulations now forced upon them. And all of these cost increases will be past to us as the end consumer of the internet.

Additionally this has no effect on the internet content providers like Netflix, Google, Yahoo, Apple, and many others. Thus they can still make it harder for the internet providers to access their content and raise fees for the use or misuse of what they provide. Again these costs will eventually reach the end consumer. Me and you.

Net Neutrality should be in the hands of our representatives in Congress. Not the 5 unelected bureaucrats in the FCC.

Election Cycle

It’s 2015 and we are approaching the next big election cycle. Maybe I will get back into the grove of posting my thoughts as time gets closer and the candidates come to Iowa to be vetted. Every election is always given the title of the “most important election.” And the same will be for the 2016 Presidential Election.

Why is every election the “most important election” of your life time? Simply because in every election you, as the voter, reaffirms your belief in our Republic. You shape the future of our Republic.

Use your vote carefully so that future generations will still have our Republic the way it was intended to be. Even our Founding Fathers knew that the Republic they created would not be destroyed by outside forces. As no outside force would be able to take it down. It could be destroyed from the inside.

It’s Election Day

Today is Election Day in the US. So please if you are a citizen and eligable to vote, please do so. This election, like all elections are important. The idea that your vote doesn’t matter is a falacy, it only doesn’t matter because, by not voting, you let a handful of people decide the outcome of the election.

Maybe we should enact a statute that requires voting. If you don’t vote, you get fined. That should stir up the importance of elections and get people out to vote.

I don’t care if your are part of the conservative tea party movement, a liberal democrat, a RINO republican, or telling the truth at being a marxist. Go vote today.

In this election there is no legitimate reason not to get out and vote. Even my 80 year old father, who can’t drive has voted in this election. So get out there and do your civic duty.

I am voting today, right after I get off work.

UnFair – A movie review

It’s been a few days since the movie “UnFair: Exposing the IRS” hit theaters in a one-day special nationwide release. I haven’t seen any numbers on the attendence of the move. I do know that my local theater had a couple hundred in attendence though.

Overall the movie was well done. And I hope it gets an Oscar nomination for best Documentary of 2014. No actors. No re-enactments. Just plain facts about how wide spread the corruption is within the Internal Revenue Service. And for how long its been happening. The sorted past of Lois Lerner and her depth of corruption.

We got to see real people who have fought against this leviathan of an organization of our government and how it reaches into ever sector and everyone’s life. It is an abomination that out rightly defies the Constitution of these United States. And that is nothing less than treason in my book.

The movie is well worth the watch. I preordered the book that is based on the movie and it goes into more depth than what was available to do in the course of the 1 1/2 hours of the moive. The book is out now and available on Amazon. Get it. The DVD is on preorder right now, I am getting 5 copies. And they will be shipping in January.

If this movie makes a 2nd round in the theaters. I urge everyone to see it. Even if you already did see it. Bring someone who hasn’t.

Tax policy is moral policy. Replace the Income Tax with the Fair Tax.

Riots in Missouri

The race riots happening in Ferguson this past week and more since the shooting death of a black teen have been handled poorly by the state officials. This should have been handled by the county sheriff.

Most of those being arrested and causing the unrest and aggitation in Ferguson are from out of state. These people should simply be arrested once. Charged with inciting to riot and fined accordingly. And also be ordered out of the county. If these outside aggitators do not leave the area and are again arrested for rioting charges. Then they should be held without bond with a multitude of charges against them awaiting their trial in the county court.

Quit slapping their hands like wayward toddlers. These people are criminals and have come to the area to incite a riot, to make the situation worse than the locals believe it to be, and to bring attention to themselves. Remove them.

Hamas vs Israel

We read and see alot about the conflict in the Gaza Strip between the Islamic group called Hamas and the State of Israel. What we see is the death of children and the destruction of property within the Strip. And it is saddening to the heart. However the bad guy in this story is not Israel or the Israel Defense Force (IDF). No, the bad guy is the Hamas.

Even the term “bad guy” is too weak of term for this organization. Hamas gladdly uses their own people and children as human shields. Putting them in direct harms way. While Hamas fires rockets into Israel to cause terror, death and destructions of the Jewish people. Israel pre warns people of the Gaza Strip that a bomber is on the way. Even giving them the exact time and place of the bombing. This is unheard of in the history of warfare.

Yet through it all, Hamas does not allow the innocents to move out of harms way. And in fact, deliberatly causes innocents to be in the exact place at the exact time of the bombing. To maximize the “villiany” of Israel for bombing innocents. No it is Hamas who is evil, not the Jewish people or Israel.

The Gaza Strip is very densely populated and the use of public places and private homes as militant terrorism is wide spread. Hamas continue to launch rockets into Israel by the 1000’s every day, knowing that homes and public places will be targetted by Israel troops and bombs. Each of these rockets costs well over $800 per rocket. If Hamas really wanted to help their own people. They would use the money to benefit those in the Gaza Strip instead of firing rockets into Israel.

But this will never happen. Hamas, like many of it’s Islamic neighbors have a deep hatred for Israel and the Jewish people. They seek only to destroy the nation of Israel and commit genocide of the Jewish people, wiping them out forever. Allah the demon Ba’al be praised.

Graduation and Empty Nest

Well the teenager has graduated from high school and even has a good bit of college under his belt already. Got to really love the programs high school kids are offered these days, sure wish they had them 30 years ago.

Soon my wife and I will transition to being empty nesters. No more kids at home and the youngest will go off to college and live on campus the first year at least. I know he will be missed. The first month or so will be getting used to him not being there and then it will settle in to a new routine.

I haven’t been kidless in a long time, since Dawson moved in with Donna and myself to finish his high school career and then only having a slight break between the end of my first marriage to Donna and the beginning of my life with Kristen. There has been a kid in the house.

Looking forward to being just 2 of us again (not including the cats.)

End of Life

Today marks the end of the Life for Windows XP. This venerable OS from Microsoft has been around for a long time. It’s end of life has even been postponed a couple of times in the past. But now the time has come for millions of users who previously resisted the attempts to update their systems must update.

Personally, of all the Windows OS family members. I do like Windows XP myself, it was a workhorse and I would be using it still if I didn’t make the switch to Linux myself a few years back.

Here and now though, millions of computer users will have to change everything, if they upgrade to Windows Vista, 7 or 8. Their old computers and even a number of their old printers and other devices will need to be physically upgraded as well with the switch to any current version of Windows.

Additionally there is the learning curve between Windows XP and the current Windows 8. A huge difference from the familier to the completely different and unfamilier landscape. And the cost will be high with new computers and equipment.

However, there is an alternative. You can keep your hardware. No upgrade required at all, use the same computer and other attached equipment. And go with Linux.

Taking this route, your software becomes free of charge for the majority of it. There is some commercial software for Linux that some may be interested in, but for the most part. It’s all free.

The learning curve isn’t as near as high or difficult to switch from Windows XP to Linux like it is for switching from Windows XP to Windows 8.

Now if you are a diehard Windows Gamer … well then you probably don’t have to worry about this anyway. Because most diehard Windows Gamers have already made the switch to Windows 7 or Windows 8. In order to “keep up” with the latest graphics and other aspects of their games.

So try out Linux today. Free yourself and your computer.
