Political Christians

There is always some discussion among various Christian sects about participating in politics and elections. Some groups forbid it, some encourage it, and others still don’t seem to have an opinion on the subject.

As a Believer and follower of Jesus Christ a Christian needs to be involved in politics.

One of the great mysteries of the Gospel is that our work is in this world, but not of this world. You cannot follow Christ’s command to preach the Gospel to all the world if you stay out of the trenches.

Additionally Scripture tells us throughout the New Testament that the Believers are to be Kings and Priests. Kings rule the earthly matters and Priests rule the spiritual ones. And Christ is our High-Priest.

C.S. Lewis wrote about this very issue. Saying that Hope is one of the Theological virtues. It means you continually look forward to Heaven but keeping your feet on the ground.

The Christians who did the most in the present world were those that thought most of the next. Starting with the Apostles themselves, who took the first steps to evangelize the Roman Empire. The great men who built the middle ages. The abolitionists who brought about the end of the slave trade. All of these left their mark on the world, because their minds were occupied with Heaven.

Aim at Heaven and you get the earth as well. Aim at earth alone and you get nothing.

So as a Believer and follower of Jesus Christ it is important to be involved in the political workings of the world. To shine the Light where it seldom reaches.

Is it Christian?

In the Book of Romans chapter 12 verses 9 through 21, gives us the guidelines we need to be a True Christian. These are all visible signs that someone is a follower of Jesus Christ.

Yet time again and again why do I see so many individuals and organizations who call themselves Christians or Christ-centered not follow these simple Biblical rules.

Evangelical leaders, Christian schools, Christian political organizations, and even churches. They all fail at the very basics of what it means to be Christian in the first place. And it is so wide spread it pushes people away from the Gospel instead of pulling people to the Light of Christ.

It is truly sad to see in this day and age more Christ-like behavior from the secular world instead of from the body of believers as they claim.

Don’t misunderstand my point here. We are all still human. We all still sin and make mistakes from time to time. That is understandable and forgivable. Help your fellow believer back up and encourage them forward in their Faith.

I am talking about the blatant and continued un-Christian like behavior from those who claim to follow the Gospel.

They are like the scribes and Pharisees of old. Two-faced hypocrites that say one thing yet do another. And they are even worse since they say the follow Christ but show no fruits of the spirit.

They can quote chapter and verse of God’s Word. But it is only knowledge. There is no wisdom to apply it. And if they did. They fear the persecution and loss (of power) it would truly bring.

Do not be fooled by these people and organizations. Do not get caught up in their frenzy. Examine what they do and say. Just as you would for your own words and actions. Ask yourself does this Glorify God or does it glorify man? Then you will know.

The Root Cause

The Islamic terrorist attacks in France and elsewhere around the world is the direct result of the decline of Western Civilization. Our civilization, like it or not, was founded on Judeo-Christian principles and ethics. Although earlier movements played a part it was Christendom that spurred our civilization forward to all corners of the earth and into space beyond.

Through Christianity we bring about the end of feudalism, the rise of science, and the beginnings of true freedom. Nowhere on Earth have these blessings of Christendom been so expressed than in the United States. The first and only nation that at one time was the exception to all of history.

The founding of a civilization on the Holy Bible is what makes Western Culture superior to anything the world has ever known. Although cultures can border with other cultures, and have trade with other cultures, they cannot co-exist in the same areas. One must give out to the other.

Islamic Culture is founded on the teachings in the Quran. The Quran and the Holy Bible represent two different, distinct, and incompatible worldviews. Within the Quran, the holy book of all Muslims, Allah never came to Earth as a man and to believe so is blasphemy, with death as the punishment. Within the Holy Bible, the Word of God. God came to Earth, born of man, died for all of mankind’s sins, and rose again. This is the foundation and cornerstone of Christian belief.

When Western Civilization in Europe embraced Socialism after the end of World War II, they changed and moved away from the Culture that caused them to rise to power in the first place.

They opened the door to multiculturalism. Where immigrants do not integrate or assimilate into the mainstream Western Culture. This leads eventually to strife and conflict. And that is what Europe has seen in the attacks in Paris and the Russian jet that was shot down.

Islamic Culture and Western Culture are virtual opposites of one another. The advantage of Islamic Culture is they do fight for what they believe in against any opposition. Western Culture has lost its way and no longer fights for its survival.

If this continues, Western Civilization will be conquered and replaced by another. One that does not represent freedom, one that has no salvation other than death, one that does not celebrate life or champions good over evil, one that encourages wars between its factions. This is and has been the Culture of Islam for over 1400 years. It isn’t going to change.

The Vatican People’s Republic

Having clergy of any level involved in politics is a good thing. From the leaders of whole denominations to the Believers sitting in the pews. And we should have more involvement than we do now. For the first time in US history the Pope, the leader of the Roman Catholic Church, spoke to a joint session of Congress. His speech was a failure.

The Pope praised several Americans for their contributions to history, two of them stood out above the others, Dorothy Day and Thomas Merton. These two Americans were both Catholics and they were both Marxists. No religious leader should be praising these people, Marxist ideology is atheist, and when it walks hand in hand with the Church you end up getting Raul Castro interested in joining the Church.

Pope Francis also talked about immigration. Stating that we Americans should not fear foreigners. I welcome legal immigration. America is the greatest nation on God’s Earth. I welcome tourists coming to see our sights and wonders. Both of these are foreigners and are not feared. It is those that come here illegally or with the purpose of causing harm that we must be wary of and need to stop. After all it has been said that immigration without assimilation is invasion. And that is a true statement.

He also talked about the homeless. Both the Church and the government have a role to play when it comes to the homeless. The Church should supply food, shelter, and clothing to the less fortunate. While the government should supply an economy that stimulates growth and advancement so the homeless can get a good job and be lifted out of the shelters and into a place of their own.

But Pope Francis talked about Jesus being homeless. I’m not sure if he reads the same Bible. But no where in mine does it state that Our Lord was ever homeless. He had a home in Nazareth. It is true that He was born in a manger. But He wasn’t born homeless. His family had traveled to Bethlehem for a census issued by Caesar Augustus. And upon arrival, there was no room at any Inns. The city was overcrowded, so they stayed in a manger that had room. Just as today when people camp out in a city park or in front of a theater days before a show. They are not homeless and neither was Jesus. The Pope should reread the Gospels.

Another topic the Pope touched on before Congress was the issue of Global Climate Change. The Pope, of all people, should know better. He knows of the frailty of man before the might of God Almighty. To chant such a belief that man is capable of causing such an alleged drastic changes in weather patterns is pure vanity. And vanity is nothing more than self pride and pride is one of the seven deadly sins and the opposite of the virtue of humility.

As a sinner myself, like all of mankind, I too find myself falling from time to time. But this level of pride is a huge flaw in the character of the current Bishop of Rome.

To state that he agrees with the group of scientists who support Global Climate Change because they have a consensus is like jumping off a cliff because everyone is doing it. This same group of scientists also claim there is no divine Creator. I’m sure the Pope doesn’t agree with that but there is a consensus and his own use of logic would say that he does agree because of it.

Lastly there is what the Pope didn’t talk about that is of grave concern for all of mankind. Jesus Christ came unto the world to save us from our sins. He didn’t come to condemn us, but to show us His Love.

We are all sinners. You. Me. Even his Holiness the Pope is a sinner. And we all fall short of the Glory of God. We all deserve hell for our transgressions against our Creator.

But Jesus came. He took our sins upon Himself and paid the price for us by dying on the cross. He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. He charged us with the mission to preach the Gospel, the Good News, to all the Earth. To Jew and Gentile, to evangelize the world until His return.

That is the message that was completely absent from the People’s Pope. It is his primary role as the Bishop of Rome and head of the Roman Catholic Church. And he failed.

He did however succeed at being, as the media has dubbed him, the People’s Pope. The people love and adore him. They love his false humility of not wanting to wear the expensive red shoes traditionally worn by the Pope. Or staying in the traditional Papal apartments at the Vatican. Or how when he was the Archbishop of Buenos Aires, he took the bus places instead of riding in a private car and how he returned the rubber bands that bound his newspaper every morning. The humble, so it would seem, man of the people. Who doesn’t preach the Gospel but preaches instead on Global Climate Change and other issues of the day. And so he is loved by Catholics, non-Catholics, and even non-believers alike.

The Charleston Shooting

In the wake of the tragedy that has fallen on Charleston South Carolina and the nation as a whole where a disturbed young man shot and killed 9 parishioners at a Bible meeting this week. The young man’s motive has been said to be that he wanted to start a race war. This is deeply troubling and a sad turn of events for our Nation.

The liberals of course see this as an opportunity to ride the emotions and force changes to this great nation to weaken it even further and make it more like other “advanced countries” of the world. The United States was formed to be One Out of Many. Not one like everyone else. This is not a gun control issue other than some of the parishioners should have been armed themselves as the shooter reloaded 5 times during his attack. Had one or more of the parishioners been armed, we would have had a lot fewer deaths in this tragedy.

Also there is the call for South Carolina to remove the Confederate flag that flies at the capital. The Confederate flag was not created as a symbol of hate, despite being used by the Democrats that wanted slavery in the South. The Confederate flag symbolizes States Rights. Any other use or meaning is a corruption of the original intent of the symbol. For South Carolina it is their heritage. The national president of the NAACP has called for its removal since it has been used as a symbol of hate. And that’s the justification. That could be used to remove the US flag from poles as well as some see it as a symbol of hate. I’m sure the liberals would enjoy removing the US flag.

No this tragic event in Charleston is not about needing strict gun control or about removing the Confederate flag. It’s about an act of murder by a lone individual. And as the families of the victims of this tragedy have expressed, there is a need of forgiveness to Dylann Roof. They are expressing true Christian love to the man who committed a horrible crime. But one he still should be punished for by man’s justice.

Indiana and Religious Freedom

All over the news are the reports of the militant LGBT community boycotting the state of Indiana for the recent Religious Freedom statute passed by the state legislature and signed by the governor. What we don’t really hear about is the 18 other states that have similar statutes already on the books. We also don’t hear that it is a fundamental business owners right to refuse service to anyone they don’t want to do business with on any grounds.

In addition to Indiana, the states of Idaho, Arizona, New Mexico, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Illinois, Louisiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Florida, and Virginia all have similar statues. Are any of these states being boycotted by the militant LGBT community?

What about the 13 additional states that are proposing similar legislation, are they being boycotted as well?

The answer to both of those questions is already known. The answer of course is no they are not boycotting any of these other states. The fact remains that the militant LGBT community carefully chooses its targets. And Indiana, being a midwest state, like my native Iowa, has the crosshairs on it. This will enter the courts to be decided who may or may not strike the statute down. But that is the risk the militant LGBT community is going to take.

Once it is struck down in Indiana, they will use this as leverage to have it struck down in all other states at the US Supreme Court level. And also take on the Federal Statute that also exists with similar wording. Again no boycotting of the United States going on here.

Happy Birthday Mommers

Today would be my mom’s 69th birthday. She lost her battle against lung cancer in 2007. I could say a lot about my mom that could take up many pages of text. She was a woman of faith. And it was that faith that enabled her to raise 3 kids on her own. It was that faith that sustained her during her battle with cancer.

My mom was generally always happy. She had a great sense of humor too. Sometimes it was a bit warped, much like my own. Always available to talk to when you needed someone. I wish I could have had her council when I was going through my times of troubles in 2008 and 2009 especially. And even now I would like to still have her here with me.

I miss my mom. I know now she is without pain and in the precence of God and His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. She is in glory and paradise but I still would very much like to see her and hear her voice. Although that one I can do from time to time. I have a recording of her that I play every so often and smile when I hear it.

So I just want the world to know. Today is my mom’s 69th birthday. For all those people who knew my mom. Please take a moment of your time today and think of her. For those that didn’t know my mom. Please also take a moment of your time today and think of her children, her friends and family. Wish us all well as we struggle through this day in memory.

I love you Mommers. Happy Birthday.

The New Boy Scouts

The Boy Scouts of America have elected to allow homosexual members into their ranks. I’m sure the founder of the scouting movement would be appalled by this recent development. But I guess it’s time for scouting to become something different. No longer will this be a movement of young men learning how to be stewards of the natural world. Now “Boy Scouts” takes on a new meaning entirely.

I pray that the Churches who fund and sponsor local BSA councils and troops follow through with their past threats. And defund and revoke any sponsorship of the BSA. This will send a very clear message to the BSA’s governing body if they must find new places to take the scouts for their monthly meetings and overnight camping trips.

We will see homosexual scout leaders very soon if nothing changes. Maybe even “transgendered” Boy Scouts. Since the Girl Scouts already allow such members themselves. This insanity must stop. The line must be drawn and if crossed, action must be taken.
