It’s Raining Men…Or Is It?

In news that could only come out of the weirdest state in America, there is a bill going through the California Assembly that would punish people who don’t use a transgendered person’s “preferred name or pronouns” in certain circumstances related to public health, retirement, or housing. The punishment? A fine of up to $1000 and up to 1 year in jail.

And people wonder why people call California the land of fruits and nuts?

All kidding aside, imagine having to defend yourself in court against a person Aerosmith sung about. Get a sympathetic (or simply pathetic) jury and that dude who looks like a lady could win, meaning you would get punished for not knowing whether he/she was a dude or a lady. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is Kafka-esque absurdity that makes Naked Lunch look like the evening news. On second thought, the news is getting just as bad. Nevermind.

If you didn’t catch my previous blog post about gender, let me give you the Reader’s Digest Condensed Version: there are only two genders. If anyone tells you otherwise, they are lying, have an agenda, or are utterly illiterate regarding science. Or a Leftist, which covers all three scenarios.

As someone whose last name has been misspelled more times than Tweets that confuse “your” and “you’re,” I can see where the supporters of the bill are coming from. Getting called the wrong name or being called the wrong gender can be frustrating. Having said that, there needs to be some common sense applied here. Granted, it’s California, so common sense may be a foreign concept, but someone has to try. So, here goes.

If you are a man who wants to be referred to as a woman and use feminine pronouns/names, then look the part. Ditto for you women who want to be referred to as men and use masculine pronouns/names. And as far as you “gender fluid” types are concerned, pick a gender and stick with it for more than 5 seconds. If you run into someone who doesn’t respect your wishes, so what? Your solution (if you can even call it that) will make it harder to be accepted by society at large which, in turn, sets back your movement by decades. There are going to be jerks everywhere you go. Making it illegal to be a jerk because they “misgender” you won’t make the jerks go away.

Here’s an idea. Try toughening up. If you base your entire self-worth on whether someone addresses you by the gender you prefer, real life is going to kick your ass. The best way to handle jerks is to treat them better than they would treat you. Not only will you look like the mature one, but if will leave them with little or nothing to say in response. Heck, you might even be able to break down a barrier or two in the process.

Unless you want to punish people for “wrongthink”, then your solution is the only one you’ll accept. Fine, but don’t be surprised if someone else gets smart and challenges you to a DNA test to see what gender you are. All the makeup or butch haircuts in the world won’t mean a thing next to hard scientific data.

“The Party of Science” indeed…

Leftist Lexicon Word of the Week

Sometimes the topics for the Leftist Lexicon take a bit of time to develop, while other times the topics just fall in my lap. Thanks to two news stories this week, the topic was a Rose Parade float complete with fireworks, dancers, and lasers.

Earlier this week, the Huffington Post published a piece about a transgender activist attempting to get people to believe men can get periods, too. Then, President Donald Trump tweeted a sentiment saying transgendered people should not serve in the military, which came as a surprise to the Defense Department. So, what’s the topic?

Stupid media, of course!

Seriously, I suggest you grab a cold drink and some food because this one’s going to be a long one.

transgender

What the Left believes it means – people whose gender identity does not correspond to their birth gender, which exposes them to discrimination and oppression by the straight world

What it really means – it’s complicated

I will fully admit I’m not an expert on transgendered issues (but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night), so I will entertain the possibility I am wrong. Currently, I see three different factions within the transgender movement: the political transgendered, the social transgendered, and the “average” transgendered. Although these descriptors seem pretty self-explanatory, I want to explore them in greater detail, mainly since this blog post would be a lot shorter if I didn’t.

Let’s start with the political transgendered. This is the activist wing of the movement, seeking to create a more inclusive environment by forcing people to accept their way of life through judicial and governmental fiat. This group is closely tied to the activist gays because they have the same goals and enemies, hence their inclusion in the LGBTQAEIOUSOMETIMESY movement. Although they preach tolerance, they are anything but. If you stray from the script even a little bit, you may find yourself on the wrong end of a shunning that would put the Amish to shame.

This brings us to the social transgendered. There are some people who dress androgynously, not because they have gender identity issues, but because they crave attention or they think it’s cool. Many of these people don’t actually want to transition from male to female or vice versa, and they are open about that. Does that make them transgender? They say so, but I’m not sure I agree. If I put on a dress (because I have the gams for it) and say I’m a woman, does that make my frank and beans disappear? Not in the times I’ve done it…I mean, not that I know of.

This is where the transgender activist who says men can get periods comes into play. You can dress, talk, act, walk, and look like a member of the opposite gender, but you are still the gender you are when you were born. In my 47+ years of life, I have never once had a period, and I’m going to bet I won’t anytime soon because…how can I put this delicately…I don’t have the right plumbing. If you’re a woman, more likely than not, you will have a period at some point in your life. That’s not a gender identify issue; that’s biology. You know, science? To have the self-described “Party of Science” get behind a concept so anti-science speaks volumes, and none of it good.

Finally, we have the “average” transgendered people. If you are trans and reading this, I apologize for not coming up with a better descriptor, but I couldn’t find any other term that I felt encapsulated what I see as the bulk of the transgendered community. If you have a preferred term that better fits the community, please let me know.

Now, onto the meat of this particular part of the blog. It’s been my experience many trans people (as well as gays, lesbians, and queer folk) just want to be left alone and treated with the respect you would give to anyone else. That’s it. And, I am perfectly cool with that. All I ask is the same consideration. I won’t try to convert you to my Lutheran faith (at least not without providing a hot dish), and I ask you don’t try to get me into a leopard skin miniskirt. I mean, I have the gams for it, but still.

Although I’m not an expert on the subject of transgendered people, I don’t come into this discussion without knowledge. One of my favorite YouTubers is Blaire White, who is a trans woman and offers interesting insights into being trans. If you haven’t checked her out, do so. I will defer to her knowledge on the subject, and all I ask in return is to go into her channel with an open mind and don’t be mean to her.

With the three groups I’ve mentioned, I feel the most for the “average” transgendered group because the political and social transgendered groups are unwittingly making it harder for them to be fully accepted. Granted, there are some pockets out there who will fight back against any and all variations on the human theme, but I genuinely think most people today would be open to trans people were it not for the aforementioned groups gumming up the works. It’s okay to be trans and proud, but if you’re scaring off people who would be your allies, you’re going to drive people away faster than a David Duke stand-up routine at an NAACP convention. It’s all about finding a balance.

As far as the political and social trans folks out there, I have one piece of advice for you: stop trying to help because you’re not. Your actions and machinations are creating an environment where trans people can’t be seen as real people. When you put your own selfish needs and wants above the needs and wants of those you claim to represent, you undercut the trans community.

With “friends” like that, the trans community doesn’t need any more enemies.

Bathroom Mania 2

President Trump has reversed the transgender bathroom order imposed by President Obama. This has caused hysteria on the Left and more crying about non-existent rights. And using really bad comparisons in an attempt to justify their agenda.

You don’t have the right to use whatever restroom/bathroom you feel like using at the time you need to go. That isn’t a right. Society has rules in place to protect others privacy. Your rights end when they come into conflict with others.

Public restrooms are one of four types, depending on the space available to the facility that built them:

Men – these restrooms are for Males.
Women – these restrooms are for Females.
Unisex – these restrooms are for anyone, one at a time.
Family – these restrooms are for family use, usually a parent with                              young children in tow.

Biologically speaking there are only two genders for the human species. Male, which is identified by having an XY chromosome pair. And Female, which is identified by having an XX chromosome pair. Any other combination is a genetic anomaly and mutation. Science agrees with Nature and Nature’s God. Gender is binary, there are only two sexes and there is no escaping it.

No matter what clothes one wears. No matter how much makeup one uses or doesn’t use. No matter what kinds of drugs and hormones one takes. No matter how many mutilation surgeries one undergoes. You cannot change nature. Male will still be identified as XY and female will be identified as XX in a simple blood testing. Something that has been done during the Olympic games to prove gender and test for steroid use.

Most places that offer public restrooms will only have the two basic types available. One for each gender. Use one of them and don’t make a mountain out of the mole hill. Just like everyone did before Obama was President.

But please don’t try to compare public restrooms to our home bathrooms. They are very different. A home bathroom is indeed a “unisex” location. But just like the public restroom variety, it has a locked door and only one person is using it at a time. You wouldn’t let your daughter or wife use the bathroom with another male in the household, let alone someone who isn’t part of the family. That doesn’t happen. No parent or spouse says that is OK.

The same thing applies to outdoor port-a-johns. These are everywhere at outdoor events that need additional restroom facilities due to large crowds. Only one person is in these little plastic restrooms at a time. There would be all kinds of questions raised if two people entered one.

But with most public restrooms, there are groups of people in them at any given time. Only a small thin stall door separates you from the crowd. This is why there is strong opposition to allowing anyone to use any restroom on demand.

There are predators who have taken advantage of the Obama order that has been rescinded. This isn’t to punish anyone, but to protect the majority.

Ruling by Decree

Well our king has bypassed Congress yet again in his quest to fundamentally rebuild Amerika. This time issuing a decree to all schools in the realm to allow students to use the restroom, showers, and locker rooms associated with their gender identity. Failure to comply will result in the loss of Federal education funds to that state.

His majesty is overstepping his Constitutional authority. He continues to legislate from the Oval Office by Executive Order because Congress displeases him. I am certain he would disband Congress if he could get away with doing so and he may yet attempt it.

Nothing this man does surprises me in the least. He stated his goals at the beginning of his first term in office. Few believed it and now we are seven years deep in to his reign of destroying the Republic our founders created.

I even once remarked that President Obama could very well be the last president we as a country ever elect. If he succeeds in his quest to fundamentally rebuild Amerika. Why stop at 2 terms? That’s just that old Constitutional restriction. It doesn’t apply today of course.

King Obama has 7 more months to go on his 2nd term as President. He could find a legitimate excuse that the left and fools would believe to extend his reign beyond 2016. Ignoring the election result no matter who triumphs there. Obama would win, and the majority would follow like sheep.

Restrooms Redux

Gender for the most part is binary. There are some genetic mutations that will result in something other than XY (male) or XX (female) combinations. But these are rare.

Gender neutral restroom have existed for a long time. Some smaller businesses just create unisex restrooms with a locking door. A couple of these and the restroom situation is solved. More public facing institutions have “family” restrooms in addition to the traditional male/female pair. This too resolves the issues of restrooms. I’ve used these family/unisex restrooms myself when I didn’t feel like using the larger shared and crowded men’s room. It’s nice to get a little privacy now and again.

The problems arise between the transgender groups who want to use one restroom over another and conservative groups due to several false perceptions.

  • A transgender person is going to attack, rape, or otherwise assault a member of their new sex.

There is no case of this ever happening. And I don’t think it ever will happen. It is far more likely that the transgender individual will be assaulted when using the restroom associated with their birth gender. Which they fear may happen to them.

  • Transgender, transvestite, cross-dresser, drag queen, and transsexual are all the same.

This isn’t true at all. A cross-dresser, drag queen, and transvestite are indeed similar. But they are not the same as a transgender, transsexual person at all.

The first group, all share the commonality of dressing like the opposite sex. Including false breasts if a man is dressing like a woman. But at the end of the day they are still their birth gender and use the same restroom as their birth gender dictates. And do not think they belong to the other gender. It’s just a fancy dress-up party.

I have know a couple of cross-dressers that I have met through work. One did it only when going out to clubs. While the other one did dress-up all day long, even at work. They were both male who dressed as women. And they both used the men’s room because they were men.

A transgender or transsexual person believes that they have been wrongly born in the incorrect sex. And seek to change that through hormonal therapy, behavior modification, dress, and surgery. Including having their sex designations changed on official documentation such as their drivers licence and even their birth certificates.

  • People wont lie about being transgender to take advantage of “open” restroom policies in order to sexually prey on members of the opposite sex.

Not all the fallacies come from the conservative side. This one is not really addresses by the transgender side of the equation. And this is why men need to use the men’s room and women need to use the ladies room. These kinds of attacks have already happened with the start of this argument of needing gender neutral facilities.

But trans restrooms or even unisex/family restrooms should not be forced on businesses and institutions. In some there just isn’t the space for a third restroom. The cost of rerouting the plumbing and construction vs the small fraction of the population that is truly transgender just doesn’t justify that kind of cost in money, time, or manpower.

The Most Burning Issue Today!

I have some good news, some bad news, and some worse news. The good news is we’ve taken care of all the major problems in America like poverty, starvation, and preventing Shia LaBeouf from doing another awful Transformers movie. The bad news is we’re left with insane issues like gender neutral bathrooms. The worse news? I was kidding about there being good news, and I’m completely serious about the bad news.

Due to a law passed in North Carolina prohibiting transgendered people from going into the bathrooms for the gender they self-identify with, we need to talk about gender neutral bathrooms as a political and social issue. (And by “talk” I mean “dissect and mock accordingly.”)

There are a couple of parts to the issue. The first is the concept of self-identification. (I plan to get into this concept in greater detail in a future Leftist Lexicon Word of the Week installment, but here’s a taste.) Self-identification is, well, self-explanatory, but there is an expectation for the rest of the world to honor your decision. For example, I self-identify as Brad Pitt. Of course, I’m not, but that doesn’t mean the rest of the world can tell me I’m not under the current self-identification mindset.

But then a little thing called reality pimp-slaps you and you realize just because you think you’re something doesn’t make it so. You can wear more makeup than Tammy Faye Bakker at clown college and wear dresses, but if you’re packing an XY chromosome, you are male. You can also wear suits and cut your hair shorter than Paris Hilton’s attention span, but if you have an XX chromosome, you are female. It’s not oppression; it’s biology, kids.

So, the issue at hand is some people feel there should be gender neutral bathrooms so transgendered people don’t have to feel self-conscious by having to use the restroom associated with their actual gender. The problem with that is you can’t override biology no matter how you feel about it. You are the gender you are, and that’s that. Thank you for playing. Enjoy your lovely parting gifts. Don’t let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.

The other issue at hand is how North Carolina reacted to the possibility of perverts self-identifying as the gender of the objects of their desires. Not an unrealistic proposition by any stretch of the imagination because we live in a really weird time in society. The fact Nikki Minaj has a music career is a sign of that. But I have to wonder how much of an overreach this might be. The fear of a possible molestation is powerful, but is it a realistic possibility? Given how small a percentage of the population are transgendered and how small a percentage of the population are pedophiles, it’s hard to believe the Venn Diagram of the two is going to overlap that much. It’s a legislative solution for a problem that may not exist in great numbers, and it’s based on fear.

You know, like the fear ginned up by gun control advocates after every shooting?

Neither side of this debate is right, but there is a simple solution: unisex bathrooms with doors that lock from the inside. It strikes the right balance of security and privacy, and it doesn’t require government intervention.

But what do I know? I identify as Brad Pitt.
