Leftist Lexicon Word of the Week

Hello! I was forced to take a bit of a vacation last week due to Internet issues, but I’m back and I have a humdinger of a Lexicon entry this week.

Abortion has become a hot button issue in the past few weeks, almost as if…there’s an election coming up soon….With state laws in Georgia, Alabama, and Ohio limiting abortion options and political officials in New York State and Virginia seemingly saying abortion can be done up to and even after birth, both sides of the abortion debate are on edge more than people in a crack house next door to a police station. But I ran across a new term the Left is trying to use to promote their pro-baby-death position: reproductive freedom.

Put on your biohazard suits and have a barf bucket ready because this one is a doozy…

reproductive freedom

What the Left thinks it means – a woman’s right to do what she wants with her body, especially when it comes to terminating a pregnancy

What it really means – a new way to get people on board with the idea killing babies is freedom

Someone in the Leftist PR department must have seen recent polling data showing more and more young people are deciding not to bump uglies and have abortions after the fact. The word “freedom” has a lot of power and emotional heft because we like the concept so much. Whether it’s people shooting off firecrackers on Independence Day (or several weeks before it, depending on where you live) or women fighting for what they consider to be a fundamental right, freedom comes in all shapes and sizes.

When paired with “reproductive,” we have a phrase that evokes the love we have as well as the desire to leave the room whenever abortion comes up in conversation. And, yes, this is by design. The Left loves to combine words to create a name that hits you in the heart while not giving you much to hang your brain on. All they want you to do is feel the way they want you to feel.

Of course, that only exercises part of your brain, but it’s the more important part. Whenever we discuss reproductive freedom, we need to think as well as feel. And when that happens, the Left can’t operate as effectively because it allows us to see behind the curtain.

Let’s deal with one important fact about the Left and reproductive freedom: the Left needs abortion to control women. You read that right, kids. The Left gets a lot of money and political power through promoting reproductive freedom, and they wield that power without considering any other possible position on the subject. If you are against reproductive women, it’s because you hate women.

That’s going to come as a big shock to the pro-life women out there.

And that’s not the only fact The Handsmaid’s Tale cosplayers ignore in their desire to obtain what they claim the want. If you really look at it, reproductive freedom is primarily slanted in favor of women. They claim it’s because old white religious men keep making laws that restrict their right to terminate a pregnancy. At the same time, they rely on old white semi-religious men and women to give them the upper hand in the sexual arena. Yet, it takes a man and a woman to create life. How exactly is that fair to men and women? Spoiler Alert: it isn’t. Reproductive freedom is designed to give women every benefit at the expense of men.

This is not to say men’s hands are clean when it comes to reproductive freedom issues. There are untold number of guys who fuck and run, leaving a woman to deal with the consequences of having intercourse before she was ready. Then, there are rape and incest victims to consider. Put simply, for every position on reproductive freedom, there is a position not considered, or at least not considered in full.

What isn’t so muddy is the fact reproductive freedom when practiced as the Left wants all but guarantees a bad result. Look at Planned Parenthood’s latest advertising blitz saying “Abortion Is Health Care.” That may be true, but it’s health care that guarantees at least one of the patients dies in the process. You wouldn’t go to a tire place where two of the tires will blow out while you’re driving, so why go to Planned Parenthood at all?

That’s where things get a little tricky. If you take Planned Parenthood at their word here, how can it be “healthcare” when Planned Parenthood officials are on video saying they sell baby parts after abortions? On the other side, if we accept the pro-life stance, how can we exclude cases of rape and incest as valid reasons to have an abortion, which is part of some of the legislation being proposed and/or signed into state law?

This is why we need to have a long, hard discussion about reproductive freedom so we can find common ground. The extremes don’t want an answer, but I’m willing to bet most of the country does if for no other reason than to have both extremes shut up for a change. And, no, dressing up like a vagina and holding a sign calling a fetus a parasite or yelling at young women that they’re going to Hell if they get an abortion isn’t helping. Instead, let’s do a bit of thinking.

Abortion rates have been declining for the better part of a decade. This means Planned Parenthood and the Left are losing power and influence, which means they have to do something to keep both. What better way than to rile up both sides to react in a way that will guarantee reproductive freedom gets front and center? Put another way, this whole push for reproductive freedom right now is all an act, and as long as we continue to take the bait the act will continue.

The only way that act will have its curtain call is if we talk, not as enemies, but as people with different perspectives. Once that happens, reproductive freedom loses its power and we can get to a better place on this subject.

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren is tired of talking about Planned Parenthood. (And, to be honest, I’m tired of Chief Running Mouth talking, period.) She says she keeps doing it because Republicans keep talking about all the bad stuff Planned Parenthood does and she needs to talk about all the good stuff they do.

And she’s not alone. Millions of men and women take up arms every time Republicans start talking about defunding Planned Parenthood because they feel the group does good work. It’s almost as if they’re Indiana Jones trying to protect the Ark of the Covenant from the Nazis. So, are they right? Let’s find out!

Planned Parenthood

What the Left believes it means – an organization protecting a woman’s right to choose while offering a multitude of services to men and women that are absolutely vital

What it really means – an organization that makes money off killing babies and lying about it

Yep. I went there.

Abortion is one of those hot button issues that people tend to avoid like most people avoid a recent Amy Schumer movie. To adequately discuss Planned Parenthood, however it’s necessary to at least touch it considering it’s what they do. So, let me be crystal clear about what they do.

They kill babies for money while offering other services on the side that don’t generate money by and large.

Sorry I had to sugarcoat it like I did. Hopefully you will forgive me.

Sure, PP defenders will point out only 2-3% of what they do is performing abortions, and if you look at their numbers, you would think that’s right. But as Leftists who propose tax hikes on the rich will point out, it’s not the percentage that matters; it’s the amount of money that does. And when it comes to abortions, Planned Parenthood makes money hand over baby fist. Hey, those exotic sport cars don’t pay for themselves, right?

And that’s why I say Planned Parenthood makes money off lying to people. There is the public face, the one that makes their activities seem as innocuous as a lemonade stand, but there is the private face, where that lemonade stand starts making sausage. And when you have two faces, not only do you go through a lot of face cream, but you also have a vested interest in maintaining the public face and hide the private face.

For many years, Planned Parenthood was able to maintain the public face successfully by painting the people opposing them as religious zealots, moral reprobates, and intellectually backwards. Then, the Center for Medical Progress threw open the curtain to expose PP’s private face, showing them to be all about the money (and exposing their side job: selling baby parts).

Remember how Gollum obsessed over Bilbo’s ring? The Left made him seem like a man in a coma with their reaction to the Center’s videos. Instead of addressing the footage, they threw out every excuse in the book, including their favorite, “they were heavily edited.” Yeah, except for the fact they weren’t.

And that’s what I meant when I talked about the vested interest earlier. Planned Parenthood can’t defend what it does in private, so it has to divert attention away from it in the hopes the public face can be maintained. But it’s working as well as having Bill Clinton leading a couples weekend to work on marital fidelity. Republicans rightly took a look at federal funding for Planned Parenthood in light of the videos, and Leftists screamed about Republicans stripping away health care for women.

Yeah, there’s a tiny problem with that. Planned Parenthood doesn’t do a lot of actual health care. Remember it was only a few years ago that Planned Parenthood and their allies fought a Texas provision that would require their clinics meet minimum sanitary standards that hospitals and medical clinics have to meet. Why would that be?

Could it be…because PP’s clinics would fail miserably? Why, yes…yes it could!

And you don’t have to take my word for it. With a little online research, you can find former PP employees talking about how unsanitary their clinics are. Now, compare that to the PP talking points about them wanting abortions to be “safe.” One would think if PP was concerned about safety, they would want their clinics to be as sanitary as possible. Then again, if PP was really concerned about safety, they wouldn’t be in the abortion business in the first place, but that’s just me.

Let me be perfectly clear. I understand Planned Parenthood does good things for people who may not have another option. I do not have an issue with them providing these services. But it’s dishonest to downplay what they do aside from these services. There needs to be an honest accounting of what PP does and doesn’t do (like mammograms, contrary to what they and their supporters claim) so we can make an honest assessment.

And along with that honest accounting, I think we need an actual accounting of the money Planned Parenthood gets from the federal government. The Left is quick to point out the Hyde Amendment makes it illegal to use federal funds for abortions, but it’s also legally questionable for non-profits to contribute directly to political candidates, and guess what PP does. Yep, they donate to political candidates through their PAC. And in the world of partisan politics, co-mingling of funds is far too common. To make sure Planned Parenthood is following the letter of the law, let’s see their books.

Unless, of course, PP is trying to hide its private face again…

Today the Supreme Court struck down a Texas law requiring abortion clinics to have the same cleanliness standards as a hospital. As a result, abortion rights activists have been happier than Bill Clinton at a sorority of nymphomaniacs when Hillary is on the campaign trail. But what is abortion to a Leftist? Let’s find out!

abortion

What the Left thinks it means: an unfortunate medical procedure that should be legal, safe, and rare

What it really means: the unholy sacrament of the Left

A little over the top? Not really, when you consider the lengths the Left will go to in order to protect the practice as it currently stands.

Take the Texas law referenced above, for example. The Left opposed making abortion clinics as sanitary as other medical facilities. Let that sink in for a moment. The Left opposed making abortion clinics, where a medical procedure is performed, as sanitary as a hospital, where medical procedures are performed.

From the same people who claim abortion is a women’s health issue.

Don’t try to understand it, folks. You’ll only get a migraine.

At the head…err heart…ummm…at the forefront of the abortion rights fight is Planned Parenthood. On the surface, they appear to be defenders of women young and old alike. They oppose government intervention into a woman’s sexual life and want everyone to be free to make their own decisions. Seems pretty innocuous, right?

Well, that’s where things can get a little muddy. Planned Parenthood does a great job in coming up with more euphemisms than parents trying to explain sex to a three year old. Even though they won’t come out and say it, they do a lot of abortions. And by a lot, I mean 327,653 according to Planned Parenthood themselves in their 2013-2014 annual report.

Now, how much do you think it would cost to get an abortion at Planned Parenthood? For a first trimester abortion, these hardworking, honest, and well-meaning people get up to $1500 per procedure. Granted, they also say it may be much less, but they don’t come out and say how much it costs. (Good thing they take Medicaid!)

Let’s run some numbers. The Guttmacher Institute (the research arm of…Planned Parenthood) and the Centers for Disease Control estimate 89-92% of all abortions occur within the first trimester. Taking the low end of this range and assuming Planned Parenthood’s percentage matched it, that would mean PP performed 291,611 first trimester abortions. If each procedure cost $1500, that would mean a net windfall of $437,416,500.

Of course, it’s likely only a fraction of the first trimester abortions performed would be $1500. Even if only 10% of the abortions cost $1500, we’re still dealing with $43,741,650. Let’s go even further and say only 1% cost $1500. Still a decent take-home of $4,374,165.

So, why did I run these numbers? To establish a simple concept: Planned Parenthood has no fiscally responsible reason to want there to be fewer abortions. And when you consider the political fundraising arm of Planned Parenthood tends to skew more Left than NPR run by Bolsheviks (in other words, NPR), the Left has no politically responsible reason to want there to be fewer abortions.

And when the Leftists in Congress give Planned Parenthood over a half billion dollars in federal tax dollars? Let’s just say I haven’t seen this much cycling since the Tour de France.

We can (and probably will) argue about the legal, moral, and personal implications of abortion until the cows come home, sleep on the couch, promise to look for a job tomorrow, and then move out to go back to college to get that Bovine Studies degree. At the end of the day, though, the abortion rights side of the argument needs there to be more babies being aborted to sustain itself.

Taking innocent life to sustain a political and monetary agenda. If that isn’t unholy, I don’t know what is.
