The First of Eight

The President’s first State of the Union speech was worthy of being called Presidential. It was well written and executed by our nation’s chief executive officer. If President Trump ad-libbed anything you couldn’t tell. Bravo Mr. President.

In typical fashion the President remarked on the successes of the past year. The concerns currently facing our great nation. And his hopes for our coming future.

After any State of the Union address many news organizations reach out to the public and ask them for a letter grade. My grade for the President is A-.
Far better than a grade of B but not quite good enough for a solid A or an A+.

With any State of the Union address it is important to watch the reactions of our Senators and Congressmen in attendance. No matter what party affiliation they express to have, as their true colors will come to light.

Most of the nights applause came from the Republican side of the chamber. This is expected during the speech of a Republican President. But it is worth noting what the Democrats did not applaud.

The Democratic Party did not applaud to any of the advances made under the Trump Administration to the economy.

They did not applaud the creation of new jobs or the lowest unemployment ratings across all segments of our nations population. Including the lowest figures on record for black and Hispanic minorities.

They did not applaud the boom in small businesses. The very backbone of the American economy.

They did not applaud the near total destruction and loss of territory once held by ISIS and Alqida.

They did not applaud the recent tax cuts that enable businesses to reinvest in America. That bring jobs and manufacturing back to our shores instead of leaving them overseas.

And they did not applaud those same tax cuts that put more money in the pockets of the hard working middle class Americans. More money that I have already seen on my paycheck. The Democrats don’t want me to have that income.

The Democrats also did not applaud the President’s plans for the future either.

They rejected his call to remove funding limits on military and defense spending imposed under the Obama Administration. With additional funds available our military can complete the work they started against ISIS and Alqida and eradicate them. And American can build up her defenses to the point that no one will dare threaten or attack our shores or interests abroad.

They rejected his call to improve infrastructure. To repair our crumbling roads, bridges, and waterways. Removing the needless governmental regulations and permits that take decades to get anything approved. We built the Empire State Building in just over a year but it takes decades to fix a road. This must come to an end.

The Democrats even rejected the President’s immigration reform package that includes one of their most expressed talking points.

A path to citizenship for the 1.8 million illegal immigrants that arrived as children, the so-called DREAMers.

All of these plans by President Trump were rejected by the Democratic Party in attendance by their actions of not standing, not applauding, and looking sour-faced at every opportunity when the cameras focused in on them.

Given the Democratic Party reaction to the President’s State of the Union address. They are against defeating ISIS and terrorists. They are against having a strong defense against foreign aggression. They are against a thriving and strong economy. They are against minorities from being employed and having good high paying jobs. They are against a path to citizenship for the DREAMers.

Be sure to remember come the mid term elections this fall. And again in 2020 when we decide who leads our nation for the next four years.

The Whines of War

Earlier this week, President Donald Trump dropped a MOAB bomb on ISIS tunnels in Syria. And, as expected, the Left acted like you offered them bacon when they asked for free range tofu burgers with free trade soybean sprouts. If you haven’t tried the latter, let’s just say you’re not missing much unless your diet is blander than an Al Gore audiobook.

The Left has its collectivist feathers all aruffle over Trump’s use of the MOAB, even going so far as to question why he didn’t seek Congressional approval to do it and whether it was Constitutional for him to do it. Some have even gone so far as to say “See? We told you he would get us into a world war!” or “See? He’s trying to divert attention away from the Russian investigation!” And, all I can do in response is shake my head in disbelief. After a long fit of hysterical laughter, that is.

Listen, Leftists. What Trump is doing is both Constitutional and legal, thanks to a little ditty I like to call the War Powers Act. In short, the War Powers Act allows the President to initiate military actions without Congressional approval for 90 days. I don’t like it because it circumvents Congress’ role in warfare, but it’s the law. Until it gets changed, Trump is allowed to use it, and no amount of foot-stomping will change it.

Additionally, both houses of Congress are controlled by the Republicans. You know, the same Republicans Leftists claim want to kill Grandma, starve the poor, and take away everybody’s health care so the rich can have a tax cut? Think this through! The people you Leftists have been treating like scum for the past few years are now going to bend over backwards to do your ill-advised will? Rarely outside of a Sheila Jackson Lee interview have I heard such absolute stupidity.

Even if you ignore the bad blood between the Left and Congressional Republicans, it would be a hard sell. See, the Left has this notion the best way to handle ISIS is to negotiate with them. You know, treat them like you would a foreign leader. Except…ISIS isn’t a foreign leader. It’s a terrorist organization that treats women and gays far worse than you claim Donald Trump does, but they seem to have your blessing. Maybe it has something to do with being useful idiots or the previous Administration giving terrorists lawyers, guns, and money, but the Right doesn’t swing that way usually. They prefer to handle ISIS the old fashioned way: lots and lots of violence. Now, you may think bombing ISIS into the Stone Age (which would be a huge step forward) will only create more terrorists, thus making the problem worse. And you may be right. Of course, with enough bombing, ISIS may win, but there will be a lot fewer of them available for the awards ceremony.

As far as getting us involved in a world war, that concept is a bit melodramatic. And by a bit, I mean more of a drama queen than Meryl Streep. The fact is we’re not getting other countries involved yet, and those who might get involved are either going to be on our side or are going to have to explain why they’re cool with ISIS. Spoiler Alert: being cool with ISIS is not a resume builder.

Then, there are people who think the bombing was an attempt to divert attention away from the Russia investigation. When you believe in conspiracy theories, anything can be used to “prove” they’re right, even if they make no logical sense. Of course, the fact they make no logical sense should be the first sign the conspiracy theory might be more cracked than a Ming vase in a house full of toddlers learning to walk.

And the “bombing to divert attention away from Russia” idea is just like that Ming vase. Do you know why? Because the Russia investigation is going nowhere faster than Shia Lebouf’s movie career. I know you Leftists are waiting with bated breath for the other shoe to drop, but that first shoe you heard was Hillary Clinton’s 2016 Presidential campaign crashing and burning, Hindenburg style. Right now, you are hanging your hopes of rumors, extensions of rumors, and anonymous sources. In other words, you’re less credible than the “Birthers” you derided during the Obama years.

We will see what, if anything, comes from bombing ISIS, but there is one thing that is sure to happen.

The Left will continue to remind people why they’re no longer in power.

The Mother of all Bombs

Today the US Military used it’s largest non-nuclear bomb for the first time in combat. The MOAB was dropped from a C-130 on an ISIS cave complex in the mountains of Afghanistan. This is not the weak US Military of the past administration.

The signal is clear that the US is no longer going with the business as usual of the previous decade. And the message has been sent out to our allies and enemies alike that change has come.

Some of our allies will condemn the use of the ‘mother of all bombs’ while others will applaud it that the US has decided to once again lead the world. All of our enemies will condemn the use of this weapon. Stating we are looking for a fight. But we are only looking to end a fight once and for all. Like you do with any bully.

ISIS has received it’s wake up call. Assad had better take note. Kim Jong-un should sit down and be quiet. And Putin should know see that the US is serious about its foreign policy.

This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things

Earlier this week, Twitter permanently banned Milo Yiannopoulos due to alleged Terms of Service violations. For those of you who haven’t been following along because you have a life, Milo has run afoul of Twitter before, but somehow this was the last straw.

And what was his crime? To hear Twitter describe it, it was harassing Leslie Jones, a star of the recent “Ghostbusters” reboot. In reviewing the Tweet logs, however, Milo didn’t really break the Terms of Service, but many of his supporters did by posting pictures of apes to Jones. There was also a possibly Photoshopped Tweet of something Jones allegedly posted, but didn’t.

Granted, I’m not on Twitter. (Too many twits on there, you know.) But what I do understand is Twitter is a private company, so the calls that Twitter are denying Milo his First Amendment right of freedom of speech to prevail in this case are not really applicable. Twitter, like any other online service, can make up their own rules and apply them as they see fit. Of course, that begs the question of how they apply their own rules.

Not very well.

The fact ISIS/ISIL and Black Lives Matter both retain their Twitter statuses for doing and saying far worse than Milo has is telling. Maybe if he starts beheading people or calling for the death of police officers Twitter will let him back on…

Seriously, what Twitter has done is egregious, but well within their rights to do. The Twitterverse has already established a couple of hashtags to protest Twitter’s decision, one of the hashtags being #FreeMilo. Twitter, being the social media geniuses they are, shut down the #FreeMilo hashtag. I guess the time they removed Milo’s verified status on Twitter didn’t teach them anything after many of his followers changed their profile pictures to ones of Milo himself.

But the icing on this crap cake comes in the form of Leftist Tweeters applauding Twitter’s decision, citing “hate speech” as their justification. Well, that’s a problem because when you start banning hate speech, it always goes underground until such time as it becomes acceptable again. By leaving it in the open, you can see the true hatred and act accordingly. For example, I tend to avoid Leftists altogether in online forums because inevitably their high-minded rhetoric will turn into the very hate they claim resides only on the Right. Need proof? Talk to Alan Keyes, Herman Caine, and other black Republicans/conservatives about how they’re treated by the “tolerant” Left.

Twitter’s double standards about their standards isn’t a good look for them, and it’s going to hurt them more than they think. That’s, of course, assuming they do think, which given their recent track record with Milo alone is suspect. Personally, I think Milo is better off without Twitter, but Twitter needs people like him to justify their draconian double standard.
