Endorsements and Secret Meetings

Here in my home state of Iowa, we have the unique privilege of vetting the candidates for President before anyone begins to vote on them. This is an issue we take very seriously. Our caucus is next month and many people are still undecided when it comes to the Republican field.

As far as the Democrats go, it’s almost a sure thing for Hillary Clinton unless the millennials come out in great numbers and call for the Socialist Bernnie Sanders. That is yet to be determined.

For the mainstream however, most of us are undecided. Myself included. I have leanings towards several candidates. But yet so-called Conservative leaders in our State and across the nation have taken it upon themselves to cast secret ballots in secret meetings and come up with the nominee for the movement and the Republican Party.

This cabal of un-elected power mongers, who like to think of themselves as Kingmakers. Have decided for all of us, with a vote behind closed doors that Ted Cruz should be our man. This is a bad mistake on a number of levels.

Ted Cruz isn’t above being a liar. He lied about the Huckabee rally in Kentucky for the imprisoned county clerk when he knew full well that it was a Huckabee rally. Yet he tried to crash it for his own political gain.

Ted Cruz also isn’t a fighter. He doesn’t stand up to the black robed tyrants of the court system. To him, the opinions of the court are law. Which means he isn’t even going to try to fight the courts on any issue if he becomes President.

Ted Cruz isn’t for the Fair Tax. So he still wants to have a smaller corrupt IRS system which taxes your income and keeps people in poverty. We all should be able to take home what we make. Now one alone isn’t enough to disqualify him. But it’s another nail in the coffin.

And I, and others, just don’t have a good feeling when it comes to Ted Cruz. Call it intuition if you will, or a Believer, you can also call it the Holy Spirit speaking to us. But either way Ted Cruz is NOT our voice.

Those conservative leaders who decided that Cruz was the man for the movement in their secret meetings and who have already endorsed him because of it risk alienating the base who is still majorly undecided. And it makes them angry and causes fractures that the cabal wanted to prevent with their meddling. And it may even lead to conservative voters staying home for the caucus and on election night. And that would open the door for Hillary or Sanders to take the White House without a fight.

We may be on our way to having new leaders of our movement in this election cycle. As our current leadership continues to fail us and costs us election after election.

Despite the polling numbers, the other candidates still have a chance to swell once the caucus and primary season kicks off. Come SuperTuesday we will know who is still in the running and who is not.

  1. Then who is a fighter that will fight for conservatives. Because it is not Huckabee or Santorum. Then what are we left with. Trump – who is not a real conservative and Rubio who is a good talker but not a man i wish to follow. I guess we can all stay home and let Hillary win the nomination and drive the country further down the tubes like our current president.
When is the last time a real conservation was president – Reagan. When is the last time any republicrat did anything for the conservative…

    1. MIKE HUCKABEE is a FIGHTER! He has fought the Clinton machine all of his political life. Everytime he ran for office in Arkansas, the Clintons sent in their cronies to and their money to beat him. But he won every time! When he was governor in Arkansas he sent 17 Clinton appointees to prison to clean up government corruption. He’s a nice guy, for sure, but he can play hardball when necessary!

    2. Ironically you immediately mention the two Top Conservatives in the Field and not anyone else. I agree that Trump is not the guy, but leaving out qualified Leaders such as Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee leads me to believe that you either have not done your homework for vetting each candidate personally, and followed the media frenzy, or you are a Libertarian Conservative who is not a Republican at all.

      1. A libertarian conservative. That’s the first time I have ever been called that but each is entitled to his/her opinion. Why would I want to be called a Republican of which I have voted since I could vote. What has that gotten me. Well nothing. Because republicans have not fought for or alongside conservatives and definitely have not fought for me who is conservative middle class Christian. I have studied the candidates and have my beliefs on what is important for me. The media does not say everything that the voter needs to know and the connotation of secret meetings. And of course Huckabee and Santorum are above secret meetings and agendas. That is just not true. People that believe that might actually believe that Branstad is 100 percent pro life…

  2. The presidential race is a leader / personality contest. I think Marco Rubio is going to win the nomination on that fact alone. not that I agree with everything he has done…. I just think he is going to win.

    1. If the presidential race is a personality contest then we are at a sad place in American History and would explain where we are at in the country. Our founding fathers would be rolling in their graves if they saw this.

  3. Huckabee is exactly the fighter we need. He stood up to the Clinton Machine in AR and defeated them 4x. He passed a conservative agenda in AR through a 90% Dem legislature and was re-elected 2x, turning AR from blue to red. He has been leading the fight for religious liberty, the FairTax, COS Project for years. He is consistent and doesn’t owe any big donors his loyalty. He fights for us and is exactly what our country needs. His wife Janet was an amazing First Lady of AR. She has donated much time to Habitat for Humanity and worked for the Red Cross. She would be a classy and servant-hearted FLOTUS. http://www.mikehuckabee.com/BurnItDown

  4. Check out a consistent conservative record in the new book “Huckabee”. In particular note that he helped to get Ronald Reagan elected.

  5. Cruz is a fighter, a consistent conservative, has always stood for conservative values and HAS fought the courts and HAS won. He goes by the Constitution. I liked Huckabee at one time, then saw his establishment leanings, voted for Santorum in the 2008 primary. Rubio will not be able to get past the “Gang of Eight” amnesty bill (which, by the way, Cruz helped defeat) where he caved and bowed to the democrats and the John McCain elites.

I wholeheartedly agree with the comment above that if the presidential race is about looks and personality, we might as well hang it up now. We are a far ways away from what our founding fathers intended this nation to be.

  6. As Franklin Graham said this week in Iowa: Research candidates. Pick one closest to the Lord’s commands as a servant leader. Vote for that person. Tell neighbors.
